Brussels Sprouts is coming to town!
We’d like to invite you to check out a show we are working on called Brussels Sprouts (so far). The show below is a trial run, so if you have a few minutes to spear, have a look and tell us what you think, so we can make the next one better.
I am hosting it with Helen Dunnett (@hdunnett) The idea behind each show is to focus on emerging trends and topics online with a special focus on Brussels. This is the first show (the Beta Version Zero Pilot Show) so they are open to suggestions to make it better next time, but they decided that the best way to get this show on the road was to…get the show on the road….

After five minutes it becomes already too long. It’s not the kind of video I’d keep watching or listening to.

Hi Julien,
Thanks for the feedback. Already collecting some inputs and will work on improving for the next show. We wanted to make this informal, relaxed and deliver some useful tips and insights on web communication. I’m hoping we can build on the input we get from this and do something that next time, even you can watch

ah, if only all users had that “Presenters’ rights” fast forward button!
Julien’s right: the max recommended length for an online video is 3 minutes. And that’s totally rich coming from me, given my half-hour long slidecasts …!
Some random reactions having skipped through the first one:
- I’d prefer giving something this long a *listen* - i.e., give me a podcast (much more convenient for the metro).
- Particularly if it covered something a little more topical (the ashcloud has been done to death). and EU-focused. But that’s just my personal pref. All media needs a clearly identifiable niche. So what’s going to be your theme, week in, week out?
- if you’re going to make it a 10minute video, then give us a running order (contents with timecodes).
But I don’t want to be too critical: full credit for trying to make something happen. Everyone’s a critic.

Thanks for the feedback Mathew. Point taking on the length, we will make it shorter next time. Topical question is fair point, but we wanted to pick a topic that was personal, interesting and topical. We are aiming for people interested in this topic, but not experts themselves. The idea is to discuss what we talk about with clients and colleagues, and prepare some additional info for those who want something ‘extra’. Clearly this attempt is far from perfect, but we just wanted to go ahead and do it, and see what feedback we would get (and we some good ‘honest’ feedback so far).
Really appreciate you taking the time to check it out and share your thoughts with us.
